The first studies explore surfaces with two sides, exterior and interior. Their ambiguity and continuity. A single skin of varying thickness. Structure and skin are joined. An in-between space generated by a repeating pattern of radial segments, wedge-shaped plates, around an axis. A central column that immediately recalls the clustered columns of the churches where, though I wasn’t aware of it at the time, I received my first lessons in space and form.
